　だから、私は英検３級なんだ。その実力を今、お見せしようと思ったんだ。
　そして、第６５６滴　～かっこいい！その生き方　を英語に翻訳したんだ。

　　　Living cool
◇◇--------------------------------------------------------------◇◇

　While we were enjoying dinner, my six grade daughter suddenly
　burst into tears.

　I gently asked what made her cry, and apparently some kids were
　talking behind her back at school. She is a group leader and all she
　did was tell some kids in her group that they were being too noisy.

　Like father, like daughter. She has a strong sense of justice
　and can't stand people breaking the rules or lacking discipline.
　It was natural for my daughter to caution them, but it backfired.

　Being right is not always being correct.

　Judging between right and wrong depends on person and place.
　For instance, what's best for the customer is less profitable
　for the company.

　That means the more happy the customer is, the less happy
　the company is.

　But many companies throw around flimsy catch phrases like
　"make the customer happy."

　I wondered how to explain this contradiction to my daughter,
　and I told her what I always believe.

　Do only what you think is cool to do!

　Judging right and wrong is measured by the rest of the world.
　But you must not acquiesce if you have to compromise your principles.

　If you think it is cool to bully other kids, bully them.
　If you think it is cool to steal from others, steal from them.
　But if you act on your inner thoughts, surely you will lose a lot, too.

　Hence, living cool takes courage.
　And you cannot be courageous by using poor judgement.
